Douglas Ruben Boone Obituary

Douglas Ruben Boone, age 60, died on August 31, 2018. He was born in 1957, in Albuquerque NM, to parents Thomas George Boone and Genevieve Lovina Boone (nee Brasmer). The family lived throughout the South and Southwest finally settling in the Bay Area.

Doug worked his way through college and graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Engineering. He accepted a position as a Materials and Manufacturing Engineer at Hewlett Packard, where he worked for more than 30 years.

He spent time visiting museums, attending cultural events and working on home improvements. He was known to his friends and family as someone who could fix anything.

His work included travel to manufacturing sites in other countries and he enjoyed visiting numerous cities in Europe and Asia. In the 1990's he participated in a cultural exchange with The Rotary Club and spent 6 weeks in Thailand where he gained a lifelong appreciation of the cuisine and culture.

Doug's greatest joy was his son Thomas. He was a loving father who always made time for his child. Being an accomplished SCUBA diver, he was excited to teach this skill to his son when they traveled to Mexico. He was proud to attend Thomas' High School graduation in June 2018.

Doug was a social, helpful man who was deeply involved in his church community along with Craftsmen for Christ, and AA. He enjoyed volunteering and served as a lay minister. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind, big hearted and reliable person.

He is survived by his only child, Thomas Grant Boone of Sacramento; and by his siblings, Charles Boone, and Amy Boone of Seattle, WA.

A memorial is scheduled for Saturday, September 15, 2018, 11am, at The Bride Church, 1321 Peach Tree Lane, Yuba City. Pastor Bob Ouzts will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Doug's life.
