Earl Palmer Gravel

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 12:30 P.M. at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery for Earl Palmer Gravel, 81 of Gridley, California. He passed away peacefully at his home from a courageous battle with lung cancer on Saturday, November 20, 2010. Earl was born March 26, 1929 in Chicopee, Massachusetts. He served in the United States Navy on board the USS LST-391 during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. He worked for Goodyear Tire Company for 40 years in Yuba City and Sacramento, retiring in 1991. He owned and operated with his late son, Greg Gravel, "Gravel's Watering Hole and Deli" for 5 years. His hobbies included a passion for fishing, working in his yard and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Romeo J. Gravel and mother, Alice Dussault; a brother, Romeo Gravel Jr. and a son, Greg Gravel. Earl is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine Gravel of Gridley, CA; his daughter & son in-law, Mary & Robert Dudley of Gridley, CA and his son and daughter in-law, Keith & Tina Gravel of Yuba City. He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy (Dot) Gravel of Lewiston, ME; a brother Thomas Mullaney of AZ; 6 grandchildren: Michelle & Kipp Ford of Gridley, CA, Chad Vieira of Biggs, CA, Gregory Dudley of Gridley, CA, Courtney Gravel of Yuba City, CA and Caitlyn Gravel of Yuba City, CA; 1 great-grandchild, Abbigail Ford of Gridley, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
