Obituary Condolences

Elaine N. Latimer (born 20 February 1926) passed away in her Marysville home of 58 years on 14 Nov. 2013, surrounded by her family.

Wearing a hard hat with a pair of channel lock pliers on her belt, Elaine was the first female foreman at Del Monte Cannery where she worked for 30 years. She also worked as a teacher aid supporting the special education students. Her community service work included helping Hmong families adjust to their new life in the USA. A past member of the Valley Quilt Guild, Elaine won many ribbons and was the Featured Quilter in 1993. She was known for her bright and wild fabric. Elaine followed her favorite team (the Giants) closely and knew all of the players and their stats. She never lost her sense of humor or her love of fine fabric. Elaine inspired many family members and friends.

Preceded in death by her son Evan Lee Rice and daughter Gayle, she is survived by her children, Jody, Betti, Andy, Darra and Pauline Gee, 5 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren.

Elaine donated her body to SF Medical Center and requested that no service be held. Donations to Fremont- Rideout Hospice are encouraged.
