Emilie Joan Wilson Obituary

Emilie Joan Wilson died peacefully at home on the 9th of November, 2015, holding the hand of her beloved husband Jack Wilson.

Joan was born on the 27th of February, 1936, in Delta, Colorado. She was the only child of Dorothy (Swearingen) and Herman Keil. Within four months of her birth, Joan and her parents moved to Marysville, California, where she had, by all accounts, a happy childhood, adored by her parents and relatives. Her happy youth gave way to a challenging period as a young woman when two marriages resulted in her entering her twenties as a single mother of three. Her sons, Dave McGrath, Gary McGrath and Greg Ringstad, would be the sole focus of her life for the next twenty years. She provided guidance, example, support, correction and love as she helped these three boys become men.

Following the birth of her second son, Joan attended Heald Business College in Sacramento, where she acquired the skills that would propel her to success in business management. The vast majority of her career was spent in the lumber industry, initially with Ostrom Lumber as a bookkeeper and then with Erickson Lumber as Comptroller. She was very fortunate in finishing her formal working life as a proud and happy member of the firm of Wright & Wright, in Yuba City.

In 1975, Joan began the second half of her life when she fell in love with and married Jack Wilson, master mechanic at Erickson Lumber. Joan and Jack later created and owned Wilson Logging and she managed the affairs of the family business, starting most days at 3am with breakfast for Jack. In their spare time, both Joan and Jack were enthusiastic sports fans across a wide range of venues.

Predeceased by her son, Greg Ringstad, she is survived by her two eldest sons, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Also six children, ten grandchildren plus six great-grandchildren on Jack's side of the family that love her very much.

Joan Wilson was a woman rich in family and friends and will be sorely missed by many who were fortunate to fall within her sphere.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
