Eugene August Pinto, a long-time farmer in the Delevan and Maxwell areas, passed away at the age of 88 on March 4, 2014. He was the son of long-time residents Manuel and Mary Pinto, originally from Portugal. He attended school in Maxwell before enlisting in the U.S. Army to serve his country. A World War II veteran, he served in the 10th Mountain Division and 63rd and 29th Divisions. He was stationed in Frankfort, Germany, where he met his wife of 67 years.

A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, his family was the center of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elfriede; son, Gene Pinto; daughter, Rita Schmidl; daughter, Carmen Leonard; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
As an active Colusa County resident, he was involved in American Legion Post 218 for over 60 years, the Maxwell Catholic Church, Princeton Portuguese Festa, Willows Elks Club, a member of SES Council, and Maxwell/ Delevan Softball Leagues. He was an outgoing, friendly man who enjoyed traveling, music, and having a good time. He enjoyed life with a smile on his face and a harmonica in his pocket.
Viewing at 6 pm and Rosary at 7 pm on March 12 at McNary- Moore Funeral Home. Funeral service at 11am on March 13 at Sacred Heart Parish. Gravesite service follows at Maxwell Cemetery.
