Evelyn Marie Taschner Reed Obituary

On Sunday, March 6, 2016, Heaven welcomed an angel as those of us waiting to someday join her again deal with this heavy, albeit temporary, loss. Evelyn Marie Taschner Reed, born December 13, 1925 in St. Louis, MO was raised an only child in a busy and loving home. She shared cherished memories of her 4' 11" fiery mother and her easy going father, through both of which she became the balanced, strong, and compassionate woman that carried her through the many rifts that life often throws in our way.

She married her love, Henry, in 1949 after beginning her 50 year span as a nurse. They spent many years

following Henry's career as an construction engineer, experiencing incredible places such as Ireland, Saudi Arabia, and Okinawa. She raised two wonderful children after the travels ceased, continuing to not only support her parents, but raise her 10 year old son when her husband unexpectedly passed at only 54. She had the wonderful opportunity to spend many years with her companion, Frank, traveling Europe while still maintaining her love and support of her children.

Evelyn's compassion for those in need not only comprised her success as a superb nurse, but spilled over into her personal life through taking in those in need, becoming "Mom" to those that needed one. Her later years were blessed by her new "big, noisy family" of her daughter-in-law.... an experience that she cherished. Her kindness, huge and giving heart, and real compassion will be carried on as her legacy through those whose lives she touched. She was devout in the Catholic Church, leading choirs

for 20 years and gaining many friends through her service in the St. Joseph's Parish, Marysville, CA and St. Bernard Parish, Eureka, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Leona Taschner; husband, Henry; her friend and companion, Frank Territo; her loving daughter, Stephanie Rolfe; and her son-in-law, Ron Rolfe.

She is survived by her son, John Henry Reed (Sheila); her grandson, Bodie Rolfe; and the many souls who had the privilege of experiencing her love and compassion and the opportunity to call her Mom and Grandma.
