Felix Matta IV Obituary

Felix Matta IV, 34 years old of Yuba City, CA, passed away on January 30, 2018, in Yolo County. He was a life-long resident of the Yuba-Sutter area. He attended Kynoch Elementary School, McKenney Intermediate and graduated from Marysville High School.

Felix was very athletic and loved playing sports all his life. He started with Marysville Little League and also Marysville Youth Football with the Chiefs, from pee-wee to midgets. He was also involved with numerous basketball teams throughout the community. He played on McKenney's basketball team 6th to 8th grade. All 4 years in high school he played basketball as a point guard and the quarterback in football. Felix was a leader and many people looked up to him. His leadership skills led his teams to many victories. After his high school years he was an assistant coach for the Yuba City High School Girls' Basketball Team.

His first job in high school was a grocery clerk at Marysville Holiday Market. He was employed by S.C.C.U. from 2002-2006. He then started his family and they became proud owners of Mr. Pickles in Natomas, CA and later of the Mr. Pickles in Yuba City. They sold the shops in 2012.

He pursued bartending school and bartended at numerous local establishments beginning with PreGame, Gary's Place, End Zone, Cellar & Sudz, City Cafe and then most recently, Stassi's 4th Ward. Felix also enjoyed bartending at private events.

Felix enjoyed every moment with his kids, attended all their activities, karate, basketball, baseball, flag football, ballet, gymnastics, swimming and all school events. He was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan and made many trips to Texas and Lambeau Stadium (Greenbay Packers). His last game he attended was the most recent Dallas vs Raiders game at Oakland in December 2017.

Words cannot describe how saddened we are to lose a special person like Felix. He will be remembered for his genuine, unconditional love for all that knew him or came into their lives. He touched so many hearts and had a special bond with everyone he knew. His smile and laughter was infectious and he lit up the room when he entered. His hugs will always be cherished. He will truly be missed and never forgotten.

Felix is survived by 2 sons, Felix Matta V; and Jalen Matta; daughter, Journey Matta, all of Live Oak; children's mother, Kymberly Matta of Live Oak; mother, Emma Matta of Marysville; father, Felix Matta Sr. of Marysville; grandma, Isabel Hill of Marysville; sisters, Tirra Matta of Yuba City; Destiny Matta of Marysville; girlfriend, McKayla Morales of Yuba City; and many uncles, aunts cousins of all levels.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Karissa Matta; grandparent, Robert Hill, Felix Matta and Margaret Sandoval-Matta; and uncle, Billy Matta.

Viewing will be Friday, February 9, 2018, from 2-8pm, at Lipp and Sullivan Funeral Directors in Marysville. Services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018, 10am to 12:30pm at the Marysville High School Gymnasium, burial 1pm to 2:30pm at Sierra View Memorial Park and reception to follow at Marysville High School Gymnasium.
