Florine Burrell Obituary
Florine I. Burrell, 88, passed away in her home on Monday, November 18, 2013.

She was born on December 20, 1924 in Shamrock, Texas to Frank and Willie Washam. Her family were decendants of one of the first families in Virginia.

She moved out to Yuba City with her family and has lived in the Yuba and Sutter Counties for over 60 years. Florine and Harold started their family and have two wonderful sons, Tony and Steve. Over the years, Harold's Air Force service took them to many bases including Castle Air Force Base in Merced, Monthan Air Force Base in AZ and a base in Colorado as well.

After her boys had moved on to college and careers, Florine and Harold moved to Guam where Harold managed a grocery store chain. Desiring to come home to their family, they returned to the area where they purchased a home in the foothills and later moved into North Yuba City where they lived for the past 20+ years.

Florine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked at Bradley's Department store as a buyer. She was known for her quick wit, charm and great sense of humor. She enjoyed staying active at the YC Senior Center playing cards, dominoes and joining in the group activities.

She was a member of the Daughter's of Leisure and served as a Past President of the #705 American Legion Auxiliary as well as Past Curator of Forbestown Museum and was a Past Officer for the local AARP Chapter.

Florine attended Cross Roads Community Church for the past several years and Gray Avenue Christian Church in Yuba City for many years prior.

She is predeceased by her husband Harold Burrell in 2006. They were married for 64 years. She is also predeceased by 3 brothers, 2 sisters and predeceased by her best friend Robert L. Hall.

Florine is survived by her son, Tony Burrell of Salem, Oregon and son, Steve Burrell of Salem, Oregon and her grandson Ty Burrell as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her 'adopted' grandchildren, Chris, Tim, Jenny and Katie Nordahl as well as her 'adopted' daughter Magda and husband Rob.

Services will be conducted Monday, November 25, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Ullrey Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Sutter Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
