Francis Edward Van Dorpe, 84, passed away on October 27, 2016 at Mather VA Hospital, California. He was born on October 23, 1932 in Minneota, Minnesota to Edward Van Dorpe and Julia Van Dorpe. Frank spent most of his life on his uncle Mike and aunt Bert's farm. After graduating high school he joined the Navy in November 1952 where he served in the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in October 1956. Frank met Wilma Mae Hendon in June of 1956 at The Pike riding the carousel. In November 1956, Frank married Wilma. Frank and Wilma were married for 51 wonderful years. Wilma had a very strong faith in the Lord, she participated in many potlucks, and one of these potlucks Frank decided he was hungry for more than just physical food. He received much more spiritual food from our Lord Jesus Christ. In 1979, Frank was blessed to go to the Holy land (Israel), where on his birthday that year he was baptized in the Jordan River. Frank worked as a machinist supporting his family for 42 years. As a family man, he enjoyed camping, fishing, playing horse shoes and playing Pinochle.
Frank is survived by his sister Marlene Fuller of Mesa, Arizona, brother Forrest Hendon of Bloomingburg, New York, sister Karen Choate of Eagleville, California, his daughters Wilma Mae Van Dorpe, Diana Heffner (Nick), son William E. Van Dorpe (Tina), grandchildren Erica Carbajal (Juan), Summer Charlton (Kris), Michel Van Dorpe, Christina Van Dorpe and 9 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many endeared family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral and viewing service on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 1940 Freeman St., Marysville, CA 95901. The burial will take place at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery, 2320 Hwy. 99, Gridley, CA 95948.
