Fred Forbes Obituary

"The Man In The Boat", 76 years old.

Our family found out New Year's Day about our husband and father. Fred Forbes knows how to finish out a year.

He wanted to go get "that one last fish" for the year for New Year's Eve. He was found New Year's Day in one of his favorite places, in his boat still holding his rod with that "sturgeon" still on the line. He loved his adventures! If you knew him and his smirky ways, it couldn't have been a better way for him. He also loved his out of state bow hunting of elk and deer.

Fred has been married to his wife Lynn for 37 years. They must of known how to make things work!!! Probably due to their unique sense of humor, everyone should have that!!! Fred and Lynn truly had an endearing relationship and knew they were their for each other. The memories they had together will be cherished and held dear by Lynn forever and always.

Fred will be joining his first born child Cathy leaving with love in his heart for Carla, Vicki, Audrey and Nick, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandkids.

For those of us out here at Grimes Boat Landing (Fred's second home), we loved and adored him tremendously!!!

Fred was an invaluable part of this spot. Jay Peck, who purchased the landing last year was Fred's close fishing buddy for at least the last 12 years. He loved Fred as though he was his own father and always loved having Fred out here at the landing. Having his buddy around meant the world to him and expressed it often. Jay especially will miss that man, but agrees that it was exactly how Fred would of wanted to leave this earth, doing what he loved doing!!!

Fred was a wonderful, kind and giving man. Anything he could help with (which was just about everything), he would be right there for us. If there was something he didn't know how to do, he would take the time to figure it out!!

He impressed us all with his knowledge, kindness and of course his witty personality.

Jay's sisters Cheryl and Lois, who manage the landing, became close friends quickly with Fred and especially loved that quick wit of his. We will always remember how he would make us chuckle and always called us Kiddo, which made us feel young again. Isn't it funny how just that one word can do that!

Even though Fred is no longer physically here, we all know that he is watching over us!!!
