Gavin Huffmaster Obituary

Gavin Huffmaster, 65, of Yuba City, went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2014. He was born in Colusa on May 15, 1949 to Wilson and Vesta Huffmaster of Sites, the baby of six children.

He was married 41 years to his beloved wife Kathy (Berlin) and had two children, Scott and Ann, and five grandchildren.

Gavin loved his family dearly and was loved by all who knew him.

He spent 40 years in education working as a teacher, vice principal, principal, and superintendent. He had just retired in July and moved back to Yuba City to be close to his son's family and Kathy's parents, Lowell and Lucille Berlin of Colusa. He has been involved in churches wherever he lived and he loved to teach and preach. He loved music and jokes and would sing a couple of lines or have a joke for any situation. He enjoyed tinkering and woodworking and was always on the lookout for a 57 Chevy and an old tractor. He was famous for his big hugs, contagious joy, and servant's heart. He had never met a stranger and had friends around the world.

He is survived by his wife Kathy Huffmaster; his son Scott Huffmaster of Yuba City with wife Brandi and children Brogunn, Madoxx, Piersonn, Ireland; his daughter Ann Lewis of Tigard, OR, with husband Aaron and son Nolan; siblings Leslie and Marilyn Huffmaster, Carol Fulton, Robert Huffmaster, Frank and Helyn Huffmaster, David Huffmaster.

There will be a Memorial Service on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11am at Cornerstone Church on 700 Washington Ave. in Yuba City, with a luncheon directly following.

Thank you for all of the support we have received in this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Feed the Children or Samaritan's Purse.
