1932 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Genevieve Lovina (Steele) Bailey Obituary

Mrs. Genevieve Lovina (Steele) Bailey (AKA Mamo) born October 15, 1932 at French Corral, California to Luther and Gertrude Steele.

Mom was the matriarch of the family. All would go to her for comforting, advice, or just a warm voice to talk to. She was there for everyone.

Mom loved to sew, read, write poems, and tell stories she wrote for the kids. In the many stories she shared with the kids were stories of her life and of their parents. She taught all the kids to play cards, she was a good cook and made the best fry bread, pies and cream puffs, she hated snakes, worms or anything that slithered.

Even while raising 8 children she managed to help build Wayne Bailey Trucking. She loved her crossword puzzles and was continually working on the family tree. She had the most amazing memory, she never forgot a name, she could even remember names of her kids friends. She was always dressed to impress in her high heels and silk blouses. She's probably listening to Marty Robbins singing to her one of her favorite songs "Pretty Words" and "Dancing".

She took most under her wing and gave advice that was taken to heart by all. She mended many relationships and broke some too! LOL You definitely didn't want on her bad side...not a pretty sight! She wanted everyone to stop in, She wanted to see a relative anytime one was in town.. "just for a minute" she would say. Always wanting family to stay tight.

She's on a new journey with a huge bonus, a reunion with family, friends and her best friend Theda, who she has not seen in a long time. Her new journey takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, gardening, and reading to her heart's content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you will never gain an ounce. Which is a big plus with her. She was all about looking wonderful, which she did!

She touched so many lives and will be missed deeply...but never forgotten!

She is survived by son, Alfred Wayne Bailey (Connie); daughters, Vera Lynn Bailey, Beverly Kay Gaither (Delbert), Grace Allene Marran (Scott), Rhonda Jane Scott (Dennis) and Patricia Sue Bailey (Mickey); brothers, Eddie and Franny Steele; sisters, Valley Johnson, Evelyn Tweed, Trudy Archuleta and Mary Amukon. 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.

She is preceded by daughters, Judy Dianne Bailey and Carol Ann Bailey; parents, Luther Merle and Gertrude Alberta Steele; brothers, Louie, Vernon and Eugene Steele; sisters, Maime Lucado, Florence Edwards, Dorothy Wagenman, Blanche Pittman and Twila Lucado.

A Celebration of Life will be at Berry Creek Rancheria Tribal Office located at 5 Tyme Way, Oroville, CA 95966 starting at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 11th, 2017.

Our heartfelt thanks to all the family and friends and to Berry Creek, Enterprise Rancheria and Mooretown Rancheria for all their assistance in making all the arrangements.
