Geoffrey Paul Lathrop Obituary

Geoffrey Paul Lathrop, of Sacramento, born on January 23, 1961, passed away after a 14-month battle with cancer on December 3, 2015, peacefully at home with his daughters Jamie and Julia Lathrop at his side. In addition to his daughters, Geoff is survived by brother, Richard Lathrop (Victoria) and sisters, Anne Pohle (Sky) and Ellen Peters (Jeff) and many other family members.

Geoff was predeceased by brother, Edward Lathrop and parents Donna and Paul Lathrop.

Known as "rifle-arm" in the newspaper, Geoff was the star quarterback at East Nicolaus High School in the late 70s. A proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local, Geoff enjoyed working with and teaching the younger members the tricks of the trade. Geoff's best stories were born on the river while catching big fish with his many fishing buddies.

Raised in East Nicolaus, Geoff lived in Sacramento where his daughters both graduated college. Geoff was understandably very proud of his girls for their accomplishments. Jamie and Julia loved Geoff dearly. From the very beginning of his illness, they provided him wonderful care and compassion during the good days and the bad. Never wavering from their father's best interest, Jamie and Julia stuck by Geoff's side doing everything possible to make him comfortable and content as he reeled in the line for the last time.

In memory of Geoff, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2015 at St. Boniface Church in Nicolaus at 11:00 AM with lunch to follow. Jamie and Julia invite family and friends to join together in memory of Geoff and, of course, to share and enjoy good stories and fishing tales. RSVP to: [email protected]
