George Shingu
George Shingu, 96 years old, born June 20, 1921, entered into his eternal rest on June 29, 2017.

He was the son of Jusuke and Kazuno Shingu. He was the middle child and only boy of five children. He was a lifelong resident of Yuba City, where he attended Franklin Elementary School and Sutter High School.

He married his high school sweetheart, Yukimi Shingu on May 17, 1942. They recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary with a dinner party with family.

He was a successful farmer, owning over 200 acres growing peaches and prunes. He farmed for over 50 years. George was full of life and energy. He had a great sense of humor and loved to have fun. He rode his ATV around his ranch until his kids made him stop at around 90 years of age.

He was an accomplished mechanic and handyman. He could fix anything you put in front of him. He also loved going to the casinos with his wife and there they had great times and made wonderful memories together. He was a wonderful father and devoted grandfather, spending time with his family was always a priority.

He is survived by four children, Wayne Shingu of Marysville, Gayle Dockrey (Dean), Janis Perrucci (Greg) and Gregg Shingu, all of Yuba City; also eight grandchildren, Wayne Jr of Marysville, Grace Hammond of Hanford, Garrett Shingu of Yuba City, Nick Perrucci (Cassie) of Clovis, Blake Perrucci of Yuba City, Adam and Haley Dockrey of Yuba City, and Trevor Perrucci of Yuba City; three great-grandchildren, Tristan and Travis Hammond, Paige Perrucci and another great grandson on the way. He is also survived by sister, Mary Uyesugi of Tustin, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Yukimi by only 22 days, his parents and three sisters; Hilda Wada, Alice Hayama, and Grace Ryono.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel. Services will be held Friday, July 21, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Marysville Buddhist Church.
