Gladys G. Miles Obituary

Gladys G. Miles passed away peacefully on the morning of August 1, 2016. She was born Gladys Roberts in Oklahoma on August 18, 1928. The family moved during the Dust Bowl years to California and settled in Live Oak.

In 1944 at the age of 16, even though friends and relatives said it would never work because she was too young, she married Silas Miles in a marriage truly made in heaven and one that lasted until Silas's passing in 1988. The couple had a son Larry, born in 1949 and a daughter Janice, born in 1950. After moving to Yuba City in 1958, she opened a beauty salon in her home that she operated for many years. She later worked in real estate for Century 21.

She is survived by son Larry, daughter Janice Fisher (Ken), granddaughter Natasha Shelley (David), great-granddaughters Scarlett and Pyper and sister Essie May Robertson. She was preceded in death by siblings Dorothy Gullett, Andy, Hershel and Vernon Roberts.

Gladys was a true believer in Jesus Christ and made it a point to read a passage of the Bible daily. Rest in peace our precious mother. You are united once again with your dear Sy who has been waiting patiently for you "Just Beyond the Moon."

Graveside services will be held on August 10, 2016, 10:00 A.M. at the Live Oak Cemetery, 3545 Pennington Rd, Live Oak, CA.
