Harold S. Griffith Jr., 86, of Yuba City, California passed away on March 27, 2017 at home with his loving family at his side.

He was born in Culver City, CA on July 29, 1930 and moved soon thereafter to Yuba City, CA where he grew up and lived the remaining of his life. He attended Yuba City High School where he graduated in 1947 then attended Yuba College for a period of time where he studied Music. He enjoyed playing the Saxophone in bands around the area for many of his younger years and always had a passion in his heart for music. He began working for White and Dipple in Marysville prior to joining the Army in August of 1951 where he spent 2 years in the Korean War stationed at Camp Drake in Japan. While he was stationed in Japan he also studied Judo and held a 3rd degree black belt. When he returned from Japan he met his loving wife Joan Hey at Andy's Drive-In Café in Yuba City. They wed in Virginia City, NV on February 19, 1954. Then settled down in Yuba City where they began their family. He worked for Randolph Machinery and later Middleton Implement Company until 1971 when he purchased the business and moved it to Yuba City as Griffith Implement Company Inc. He then later worked as a Real Estate Agent before becoming a Real Estate Broker and beginning Farm-Land Realty. He was very involved in the Elks Lodge #783 for many years and served as an Exalted Ruler and later District Deputy for the North Central District for the Elks. He was always very involved in the community as a member of the Marysville Rotary Club and the Masonic Lodge in Yuba City and took great pride and honor in being a Shriner.

He loved getting together with his family and friends and especially enjoyed going to his cabin in La Porte, being a part of the Frank C. Riley ECV chapter, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, drag racing, his love for music, and talking to people around the world through his Ham Radio (KE6AX).

Harold is survived by his four children; Lynda Griffith of La Porte (Donna), Debra Doss of Meridian, Jeff Griffith of Yuba City (Becki), Lisa Thomas of Yuba City (Tim). Four Grandchildren; Phil Trujillo, Tiffani Thomas, Amber Niegel (Scott), and Casey Doss as well as Two Great Grandchildren; Owen and Peyton and his faithful German Shepherd Snickers.

Harold will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Joan of 55 years, his father Harold Griffith Sr., his stepfather Max Arnoldy and his mother Evelyn Arnoldy, his sister Helen York, his son-in-law Richard Doss and two half-brothers Jim Griffith and Howard Deatsch.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City.

Graveside services will be held at Sutter Cemetery on April 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
