Helen Gene Bramer Doyel Obituary
Helen Gene Bramer Doyel
Helen Gene Bramer Doyel, loving daughter, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, and stepmother, and a lifetime resident of Marysville, CA, passed away this last week at the age of 92. Helen lived for much of her life at her residence at 617 H Street. This was a family home that was passed down to her by her parents and family. She had lived for the past year at Prestige Assisted Living in Marysville, CA. Helen was born in Marysville, CA on August 24, 1923, the daughter of Benjamin James Bramer and Sadie Agnes Bramer. She passed on early in the morning on Sunday, February 28, 2016.

Helen was a graduate of Marysville High School, and also attended Yuba College. She provided care to both of her parents, particularly her mother, Sadie, in the family home until their passing. Helen worked for Western Union and also Sutter County Welfare and Social Services. She was also a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marysville.

Helen met Dale Doyel, her husband, after her parents had passed. At the time she was living in the family home at 617 H Street, and Dale lived next door to her. He was a widower, having lost his first wife, Lota Anne Doyel, in 1969. The two of them began seeing each other and were married on March 31, 1973. Dale moved into the residence on H Street with her and the two of them would spend the rest of their lives in that home. Dale spent a portion of his time in retirement working on and maintaining the family home. He was so appreciative of the generosity of Helen and the Bramer family in providing that home. They lived there for 42 more years, sharing the home with their pets-Tim, Molly and Blackie. As all of her family and friends can attest, Helen had a black cat named Tim for most of her life. It was fitting that Tim was with her on the bed at the time of her passing. There were many Tims who preceded Helen in death, and one loyal Tim who survived her.

Helen and Dale enjoyed their retirement together. They spent their early years traveling, enjoying trips by train and by car, all over the United States and parts of Canada. They visited family on both the Bramer and the Doyel side. Helen was Grandma Helen to an array of grandchildren, and many happy times were spent enjoying their grandkids. Helen was much loved by all.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin James Bramer and Sadie Agnes Bramer; her husband Dale.; two brothers, Benjamin J. Bramer, Jr. and Robert T. Bramer; and by stepdaughter Patricia Ann Sorani. She is survived by her brother Ray K. Bramer of San Jose, CA; stepdaughters Daleen Chapman of Yuba City, CA and Sue Wilson of Republic, MO; stepson Brad Doyel of Vancouver, WA; and several nephews and nieces, as well as a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank all of Helen's caregivers, including the entire staff at Prestige Assisted Living in Marysville and Fremont-Rideout Hospice. The staff at Prestige demonstrated genuine care and kindness in all their interactions with Helen. The hospice staff took fabulous care of Helen during her last week.

Viewing will be held at the Lipp and Sullivan Funeral Home at 629 D Street in Marysville from 3 pm to 7 pm on Monday, March 7, 2016. That will be followed by a Rosary and Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 702 C Street in Marysville at 11:30 am and 12:00 pm, respectively, on Tuesday, March 8th. And there will be a Rite of Committal and Final Commendation following at Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst.

Any donations to Fremont-Rideout Hospice are appreciated. The address is 939 Live Oak Boulevard, Yuba City, CA 95991.
