Henry M. Dethlefsen Obituary
Henry M. Dethlefsen
Henry M. Dethlefsen of Plumas Lake passed away peacefully at home on December 13, 2013.

He was born in Santa Cruz County on July 17, 1929 to Bernice and Henry Dethlefsen. Henry attended grade school in Banta, CA and graduated from Tracy High School.

Henry moved to the Wheatland area in 1948 to farm with family. Henry married Lola Louise Parker from Fossil, OR. Henry and Lola were married for 52 years.

Other than a deep love for his family, Henry had a passion for history, books and his dogs. Henry's collection of books was extensive, often times having multiple copies of the same book. You couldn't go by and see him without him sending you home with a book to read. He could spend hours in used book stores searching for books on trains and mining, among other subjects. If Henry came to see you, he was always accompanied by one or more of his dogs as well. He always had one by his side or in his lap in his favorite chair.

Henry was a self-taught man and he farmed walnuts and rice in Rio Oso most of his life.

Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Lola; grandson, Andrew Patche; sons-in- law George Johnson, and Mike Patche; brother, Donald Dethlefsen; and sister, Marie Wells.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Carolyn of Plumas Lake. They married in one of Henry's favorite areas, Santa Cruz, CA. Henry is also survived by his daughter, Vivian (Mark) Patche of Wheatland; son, Henry (Sherry) Dethlefsen of Rio Oso; daughter, Mary Johnson of Yuba City; step sons, Collin (Lola) Dethlefsen of Texas, Richard Dethlefsen of Yuba City, Brian (Leticia) Dethlefsen of Oakland; 5 granddaughters, Tina, Kimberly, Kelly, Sierra, and Michaela; 4 grandsons, Eric, Russell, Colby, and Alejandro; a great-grandson; 3 great- granddaughters; and 1 great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by brothers, Dean and Dennis Dethlefsen, sisters, Susan Webber, Janice Walker, Linda Vierra, and Jerry Sickels; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00a.m. at the Wheatland Community Fellowship Church, 4753 Wheatland Road, 95692. Pastor Burns will be officiating.
