Herman David Edwards Obituary

Herman David Edwards passed away June 11, 2014 at his home in Live Oak. He died very peacefully in his sleep.

He was born in a log cabin on his grandfather's farm in Wayne County Tenn, May 2nd, 1915. His parents were James Benton Edwards and Ethel Gray "Meredith" Edwards. When Herman was 4 the family moved to Arkansas where they lived for 2 years. They moved to Texas when Herman was 6 and that is where he grew up. He came to California in 1936 and worked farm work. He married Ava Burns in 1939 and except for two years living in Texas they lived in California. Herman worked in a defense plant during W.W.II where he received several citations for his excellent work. They moved to Sutter County in 1951 and bought a ranch in Live Oak in 1953. Herman lived on the ranch until he died. He retired from the Teamsters union in 1978. He traveled building churches and schools for his church until he was injured and had to quit.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ava in 1975 and his daughter Karen Alexander in 2002.

He is survived by his sons: Keith (June) who lives in Sutter, and his son Kenneth (Carolyn) who lives in Burney. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren.

Graveside services are 10:00am Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Live Oak Cemetery.
