Howard Richard (Dick) Walters Jr. died suddenly on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the age of 69. Dick was born February 4, 1947 in Escondido, CA to Lora Ellen and Howard Richard Walters Sr.

Dick will forever be cherished by his wife Robin of 30 years. They were married in Yuba City on October 19, 1985.

Dick graduated from Tule Lake High School in 1963. He attended OIT in Klamath Falls from 1964 to 1967 and interned at San Diego Medical School, graduating in 1969 receiving a BS in Medical Laboratory Technology. During this time, Dick also worked at Lava Beds National Monument in 1967 as a Park Ranger. After receiving his CLS license, Dick worked at Huntington Memorial Hospital followed by Corning Memorial Hospital, until 1976 when he started working at Fremont Medical Center. While at Fremont, Dick passed the Board of Registry Certification examination for Specialist in Microbiology in February 1987. After the merger of Fremont-Rideout hospitals, he continued working at Rideout as a Specialist in Microbiology. Dick will be recognized for 40 years of service by Rideout Health this September.

Dick enjoyed being in the outdoors. He hunted, fished, and camped with his family and friends. His interests included classic cars, music and books. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family. Dick was planning on spending the next several years at his Lake Almanor home, enjoying his retirement with those that he loved.

Dick is survived by his wife Robin Kay Walters, sons Michael Scott Walters and wife Leslie of Redding, Stephen Richard Walters of Yuba City, Joseph David Walters of Everett Washington; daughter Jennifer Jean Walters of Yuba City; Aunt Mae Neutzling of Escondido; loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Dick was predeceased by his parents Lora Ellen and Howard Richard Walters Sr., and his sister Jane Fitzpatrick Marsh.

A Memorial service will be held at Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City on September 2, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Bob Fischetti officiating, with a Celebration of Life following.

Dick's family wishes to thank the following Emergency Services: Bi-County Ambulance, Yuba City Fire Department, Rideout Emergency Staff, Trauma Intervention Program, and Sutter County Sheriff's Office.
