Inge Clarke Obituary

Inge Clarke died in Yuba City on February 1, 2017. She was born Inge Meyer on October 11, 1927, in San Francisco. But it wasn't long before her parents Gertrude and Walter took her to the family farm just off Highway 70 about halfway between Marysville and Oroville.

Inge is survived by three adult children, Valli Elliott (Don) and Kim Pankey (Greg) of Yuba City, and Mike Travis (Jackie) of Chico; a brother Edgar Meyer (Lilian) of Chico; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was married to Vincent E. (Bud) Clarke for 36 years until he passed away in 1995. They shared a home and raised the three kids on Jay St. in Linda where her home was very dear to her.

Inge is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Gertrude Meyer; her husband Vincent (Bud) E. Clarke; a brother Walter Meyer and a sister Gertrude (Alen) Cook.

Inge's career was a sales clerk at Bradley's Department Store in downtown Marysville for 28 years. Women (and men shopping for gifts) came to the store from 3 counties because of her customer loyalty and fashion advice. While she worked at Bradley's, she was a member of the Yuba Sutter chapter of the Business and Professional Women (BPW).

Inge loved sewing, crocheting, cooking, and gardening. Whenever she could, she loved to spend time camping and fishing. She loved to entertain her family and friends and her parties were the best, especially for the Super Bowl, and especially when the 49ers were playing.

Inge was never happier than when she was working hard and making things better for the people she loved. She'll be missed by her friends and family and everyone who really knew her.

There will be a memorial service for Inge on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church, 730 D St., Marysville, with a lunch/reception afterwards in the church hall. A short graveside services to follow at 2:00 pm at the Sutter Cemetery, 7200 Butte Ave., Sutter.
