Irene T. Cupido Obituary

Irene T Cupido was born in Woonsocket, R.I. on February 17, 1927 to Armand and Yvonne Laramee. Shortly after graduating from high school in 1945 she met Joseph R. Cupido who had recently returned from Europe at the end of WWII. They married in April of 1947 and had 57 years together until Joe predeceased Irene in 2005. Irene died on October 15, 2015 and was a longtime resident of Yuba City.

As an Air Force wife, Irene shared many adventures traveling to many different states and 3 years in Bermuda, where Irene loved the beaches, but hated the BUGS! Along the way Irene and Joe had 3 sons Jim, Dan and Joe Jr. Between the 3 boys they had 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Irene worked in the payroll dept. at Beale AFB and when Joe retired from the Air Force in 1966 he too went to work for the Civil Service. They both retired in the 90's and traveled to Hawaii, Aruba, Alaska, Mexico, Canada and to many states with both friends and family. Irene especially enjoyed returning to Woonsocket to see family. Due to ill-health, Irene and Joe moved to Oroville in 2004 to live with their son Jim, daughter-in-law Ileen and their 3 girls. Eventually Irene moved to Iris Care Home for the last 5 years and still got out 2-3 times a week for lunches with family, thanks to her long time caregiver Ruth and the B-Line.

Irene was involved with the Altar Society at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marysville, CA, Omega Nu Sorority and worked for the Yuba City Cancer Society Thrift Store for several years after she retired. Irene is survived by son Jim (Ileen in Oroville), Dan and Joe Jr. in Riverside, CA; all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene is also survived by her sister Connie Grant (Joe) of Greenwich, R.I. and sister-in-law Rita Buco of Cumberland, R.I. Many nieces and nephews, and cousins all on the East Coast. Memorial services are at St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 10 am. Donations can be made to St. Thomas the Apostle School, 1380 Bird St., Oroville, CA, 95965.
