James D. Fultz Obituary

James D. Fultz, 87, of Arboga, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016. Jim was born February 24, 1929, in Love Co., OK. One of 13 children born to Ernest and Josie Fultz, he was raised on a farm in Burneyville.

He married Quetha Jo Keller before being deployed to Europe to operate heavy equipment for the US Army. Upon his return in 1955, he moved to California to be near his older brother, Price. After a few years, he bought a small farm in Arboga and over the years raised cattle, hogs, chickens, rabbits, and almost every other kind of critter you might see on a farm. He was especially known for his huge gardens and beautiful tulips. But the farm was a passion rather than a vocation, so Jim worked as a cement truck driver until his retirement from Yuba Ready Mix. He always did right by the customers and many insisted on Jim as the driver for their jobs. When he wasn't working, gardening, or taking care of the farm, Jim enjoyed fishing the lakes and rivers of northern California, the waters outside the Golden Gate, and the Columbia River in Washington.

Jim is survived by his son, Timothy James (Belinda Joy) of Martinez, and Tanya (Ray) Nakatani of Woodland; his four grandchildren, Kevin James Fultz of Missouri, Kadah Jane Fultz (fiancée Bridget Siegel) of Florida, Rachel Kiyomi Nakatani of Woodland, and Brianna Elaine Nakatani of Santa Ana. He is also survived by two sisters, Peggy Tabler of Thackerville, OK, and Wanda Norvell of Midland, TX, and one brother, Gordon Fultz of Marietta, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard, Claude, A.K., Frank, Price and sisters, Louise and Pauline. There will be a viewing Friday, October 7, 2016 at Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City from 4:00-7:00 pm followed by a service at Sutter Cemetery on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:00 am.
