James F. McKenzie Obituary

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014, 4:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, corner of Sampson and Rideout Way in Marysville, CA., for James F. McKenzie Jr., 78 of Gridley, CA. Jim passed away, surrounded by his family on July 1, 2014 in Chico, CA.

He was born on November 12, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri to James F. and Eunice McKenzie.

Jim was a long time resident of Gridley. He served in U.S Air Force during the Vietnam War and was involved in the Sontay Raid. He retired from the Air Force as a Major with over 20 years of service to his country. He enjoyed singing bass in Barbershop Harmony and the church choir. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, and caring for his children. He was a member of the Gridley Kiwanis Club, Capitolaries Chorus and Sound of the Foothills Chorus.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 15 years Kathy McKenzie of Gridley, ex-wife, Joy Bernard of GA, one daughter Beth (Kirk) Arnoldy of Sacramento., one brother Don (Karen) McKenzie of Florence OH, one niece Leslie McKenzie, and will be remembered fondly by Kathy's children, Timo (Nell) Acosta, Gratia (Mike) Minor, Flora (Gabe) McCormick and three grandchildren.

Pastor Rich Hinkle of The First Presbyterian Church of Marysville, CA will officiate the service.

Interment will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.

Family suggests contributions be made to a Veterans .
