James R. Manees Obituary

James R. Manees of Linda, California, passed away on March 11, 2016 at the UC Davis Firefighters Burn Institute Regional Burn Center in Sacramento. He was 74 years old.

Jim was born on July 17, 1941 in Lilbourne, Missouri as the youngest child to his parents Nervirtia and Henry Manees.

After serving the United States Army in Germany from February 1961 to May 1964, he worked as a pipe fitter and boiler maker for Chevron Oil Refinery in Richmond, California for several years.

Jim's favorite activities involved being outdoors. He loved fishing, bow hunting, camping and spending time with his wife and family at Navarro Beach in Mendocino County. He looked forward to planting his vegetable garden each year and competed with his daughters for the best tomato grower of the family.

In his later years, his favorite times were spent with his three grandchildren. He taught them the joys of camping, working in the soil, and to enjoy the great outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill Manees and sisters Syl and Edna Kelly.

James is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of fifty years, Wanda Manees as well as his daughters Angela Bowes (Robert), and Mary McGuire (Vincent Hamel). He also leaves behind his three precious grandchildren: Kyle Bowes and Hannah and Sarah McGuire. His only remaining brother John Manees resides in Vale, Oregon.

Arrangements are being handled by Lakeside Colonial Chapel of Marysville.

There will be a Remembrance Open House on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the home of Mary McGuire and Vincent Hamel in Plumas Lake from 3-7 pm.

Jim's family is extremely grateful from the service of the Linda Fire Department as well as the excellent medical staff at the UC Davis Firefighters Burn Institute Regional Burn Center. Donations to either organization are encouraged and appreciated.
