James Ronald McVey Obituary

James (Jim) Ronald McVey, 80, born on April 29, 1936 in Sutter, CA passed away on January 11, 2017.

He was a lifetime resident of Sutter. In his early year, he worked in the coastal lumbar mills. Returning to Sutter, he met his wife Mary H Dye, and had two children, Flint R and Mindy A McVey.

He had a long career in hauling hay with his brothers. He was very well known in the Agriculture community for his knowledge of farming and as an equipment operator. He then went to Redwood City, where he worked in construction, and met his love Gloria Romanoff. They moved to Newark, New Jersey, where he worked for Hudson News Distributor for 29 years. He loved to hunt, fish, and antiquing. Most of his pass time was spent traveling state to state, exploring the great historical battlefield and landmarks. He also loved NASCAR racing, where he would fly with his co-workers to many different NASCAR tracks.

He was born to Leonard McVey and Glayds Nelma Charge, one of twelve children.

He was preceded in death by his lifelong partner Gloria Romanoff in December 2016. He is survived by his beloved children Flint R and Suzanne McVey of Marysville, Mindy A McVey of Oroville; two grandsons: Flint Mack and Raina McVey of Marysville, Chad Anthony and Miss McVey of Marysville; 4 great grandchildren (the apple of his eyes) Unique Mackenna McVey, Bladden Mack McVey, Tyr Cockrum and Frank Miller; six brothers: Richard McVey of Live Oak, Leonard McVey of Yuba City, Dean McVey of Sutter, Roger McVey of Meridian, Gary McVey of Stoneyford, Allen Rankin of Sacramento; and four sisters: Helen Wagner of Colorado, Edna Stewart of Sutter, Dorothy Stewart of Georgia, and Glayds McVey of Utah. He was preceded in death by his brother John McVey of Oregon, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Jim was a warm hearted gentle man who took great pride in the many generations of his family from Sutter City, CA.

Please join us for a grave site memorial on January 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Sierra View Cemetery in Olivehurst. Celebration of Life will follow at Flint McVey's home, 585 Silva Ave., Marysville.
