James Thomas McCarty Obituary

James Thomas McCarty, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017, due to complications from COPD.

He was born Feb. 22, 1942, in Amarillo, TX, but grew up in Yuba City, CA. He graduated from Yuba City High School in 1960, then served as Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard of CA before moving to Roseville, CA.

Growing up along the levee, Jim developed his love of fishing, which became a life-long passion. He was an active member of Sacramento Bass Wranglers. Work opportunities led him to reside in Las Vegas, NV, in 1990, where he continued his 40-year career as a sales representative in technology, as well as his participation in bass fishing tournaments.

Jim will be dearly missed by his family. He is survived by his companion for over 30 years, Karen Day Hinsdale of Yuba City; his daughters, Becky (Eric) Murchison of Elk Grove, and Shelby (Dave) Bushnell of Granite Bay; and his stepdaughters, Shelby (Joey) Cavazos of Sutter and Corby Hinsdale of Yuba City. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lindsay and Alex Murchison, Torin and Ellie Bushnell, Sydney and Emery Cavazos and Tea Worden; as well as his first spouse, Denise Cederquist of Fresno.

Jim will be laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetary in Dixon, CA. Private services will be held.
