Jay D. Hammond Obituary

Jay D. Hammond, was the youngest of 16 children born to Adam and Adaline Hammond on April 27,1945 in Napa, CA. He died on July 20, 2016 in Olivehurst, CA with his family by his side, after a long battle with cancer.

He was a VERY proud Marine and served in Vietnam. He was a past commander of the American Legion Post 807 and a lifetime member of Forgotten Warriors of Hotel Company 2/3 Vietnam 1965 and the He worked for Beale Air Force Base as the manager of the Rod & Gun Club for 18 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest daughter, Lori Azevedo and several siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sherry Hammond of Olivehurst; daughters, Roberta and JR Gafford of Marysville, Robin Deeds and her companion Jason Booth of Yuba City, Tami Reynolds and her companion Greg Moffitt of Olivehurst; 5 grandkids; 7 great-grandkids; brothers and sisters and many nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in his name to or Forgotten Warriors of Hotel Company 2/3 Vietnam 1965 , 912 Stamp Creek Road, Salem, South Carolina 29676.

Services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 2 pm at Lakeside Colonial Chapel, Marysville.
