Jim Hunt Vantress Obituary
Jim Hunt Vantress, age 70, of Marysville, California, passed away January, 21 2014, born November 1, 1943 in Oroville to Patricia and Horace Vantress. Jim grew up in Live Oak and moved to Marysville before starting High School. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1962. He served in the National Guard for 6 years while starting out in the farming business. Jim farmed rice in the District 10 area for over 50 years. Jim was one of the founding members of the Yuba-Sutter Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He served on the Ramirez Water District Board for over 30 years and was on the Board of Farmers Rice Co-Operative.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman, he especially loved to hunt and fish. He traveled to many places to enjoy his passion. As a young adult, he coached in the local Babe Ruth baseball league before he had children. Then he coached his son and served on the board of Marysville Little League. Later on in life he loved jet boat racing, and was very instrumental in bringing a leg of the International Jet boat Races to the Yuba-Sutter community.

Jim made lifelong friends where ever he traveled. Jim's children remember him as a father who was extremely generous, always trying to help someone in some way. He was a very hard worker, but enjoyed lots of good times with family and friends. He was the king of practical jokes and loved telling stories to all would listen. He also loved to cook. Jim enjoyed life to the fullest.

Jim will be dearly missed by his family: daughter and son-in-law Tiffani and Rick Heryford of Sutter; son and daughter-in-law Jimmy & Lyndsay Vantress of Marysville; grandchildren Taylor Heryford, Jace Heryford, Samantha Vantress, Grace Vantress and Drew Vantress; his Sister and brother-in-law June and Bob Haase and brother Dan Vantress.

A celebration of life will be held in Jim's honor Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Please contact us via [email protected] hotmail.com. In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Jim Vantress to Hands of Hope, 909 Spiva Ave., Yuba City, CA 95991.
