JoAn A. (Heiskell) Samson Obituary

JoAn A.(Heiskell) Samson aged 85, of Yuba City, passed away on October 29, 2017, at Enloe Hospital in Chico, California.

JoAn was born on January 13, 1932, in Oberlin, Kansas, to Mildred (Brewer) Heiskell and Harold Y. Heiskell. She was raised in Joplin, Missouri, and then later Phoenix Arizona. She lived in the Yuba Sutter area for 59 years.

She married John "Jack" William Samson on September 16, 1952, in Sacramento, California. Together, they raised two daughters and a son, Denise Budd, Jacque Dills, and David Samson. For 65 years, she was a great homemaker and a loving person to her husband and kids.

JoAn was a Christian and loved the Lord. While living in Browns Valley, and attending the Loma Rica Community Church, she led Bible study groups. She loved gardening and flowers and spending time with her family.

She had a remarkable uplifting smile that could light up the room. Her hobby and great interest was art. She was a terrific painter. She painted oil and water color and loved to give her paintings to friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Virginia English.

JoAn is survived by her husband of 65 years, John "Jack" William Samson; son David Samson; daughter-in law Tammy Samson; daughters, Denise Budd and Jacque Dills; son-in-law Terry Budd; and four grandchildren, Jacob and Logan Samson, Greg Dills, Kari Adams, and her husband Christopher Adams. She has two great-grandchildren, Karis and Aidan Adams.

We will always carry her memory in our hearts.

The Memorial Service will be Thursday November 9, 2017, at 2:30 pm at Ullrey's Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond Street Yuba City.
