John Allen Lockhart Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Allen Lockhart announces his passing. John, 80, returned to his heavenly home on May 17, 2017.

John was born March 13, 1937 in Santa Barbara, California to William and Effie Lockhart and was the youngest of five children. He attended Reedley Junior College in Reedley, California where he played football for the Tigers. John then attended Southern California College (now Vanguard) where he received his degree in Theology and was ordained in the ministry. John was a pastor for more than 55 years and pastored churches in Colusa, Fort Bragg, Olivehurst, and Clearlake. John loved attending his son's and his grandchildren's events and could often be found playing pickup basketball games at Yuba Gardens school. He was well known to his grandchildren for his great Bear hugs. He enjoyed playing the card game "Rook" on Friday nights with Leroy, Bob, and Steve where Dr. Pepper was the drink of choice.

John was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and pastor to many. He is survived by his wife Martha; his brother Ray; sons Steve (Wendy), Mark (Erin), Paul (Amy), and Jon (Karen); grandchildren April, Jessica, Monica, Ashley, Shawn, Megan, Mackenzie, and Dakota; and 5 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Effie Lockhart; brothers Charlie and Albert; and his sister Velma.

At his passing John was the pastor at Pentecostal Holiness Church Trinity Life and will be greatly missed by his congregation.

A celebration of life service will be held at Word of Life Church, 1229 Buchanan St., Marysville at 11:00 am (viewing at 10:00 am) on Thursday, May 25, 2017, with the Reverends Ray Davis and Stanley Reynolds officiating. A reception will follow the service at the same location. John will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at Sierra View Memorial Park.
