John Bert Smith, 78, of Loma Rica, CA, passed away July 2, 2018, peacefully at his home. He was born in Bend, OR, and was a Yuba Sutter resident for over 60 years.
Bert worked and retired from Sunset Moulding in Live Oak, CA, after 32 years.
He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend and known as Uncle Bert to all. He loved the outdoors and most enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding horses especially in Chester at cow camp and spending time with family and friends. He loved the simple things in life and had a huge heart. He was very dedicated to his family and being more than just an Uncle to his nieces and nephews after the loss of their father at a young age. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.
Bert was preceded in death by his mother Francis Smith, father, John G. Smith, sisters, Jeanette Johnson, Alice Daniel and Dolores Smith.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews; Natalie Casey of Gilbert AZ, Durk Daniel of Loma Rica, CA, Shawn Daniel and Roxanne Daniel of Yuba City, CA, and great nieces and nephews; Brooke Pride and Allison Casey of Gilbert, AZ, Bailey Daniel, Colton Daniel, Chance Daniel, Chad Daniel of Loma Rica, CA, and Lauden Schroll of Yuba City, CA, and Wyatt Duncan of Marysville, CA, and many more.
A celebration of life will be held at the Foothill Lions Club at 5667 Fruitland Rd., Loma Rica on July 28, 2018, at 1:00 pm.
