John F. Neal Obituary

John F. Neal, Jr. peacefully passed away at home on January 8, 2018 at the age of 71. Born in Southern California, John was a 52 year resident of Yuba City, CA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and dear friend to many.

John, having been the crew chief for the SR-71 during his service in the USAF, had a lifelong love for aviation. He and his wife owned and operated Yuba-Sutter Aviation in Marysville, CA for 38 years. A well-known and respected mechanic in the aviation world, John held many positions and had many accomplishments during this time. To name a few, John held his commercial and instructor pilot ratings, was on the T6 WWII aircraft tech committee for the Reno Air Races and, in 2017, was awarded the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award from the FAA for 50 years of excellence in aircraft maintenance and practice.

John loved to learn new things which lead to many interests in life -- drag racing, garden trains, RV'ing, discussing politics, and perfecting his BBQ rib recipe, among many others.

John will be remembered for his generosity of both knowledge and time, sense of humor, unstoppable optimism, and dedicated friendships.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Connie, daughters Chari and Christi, grandchildren Quentin and Myles, and sister Bonnie.

John is preceded in death by both his mother and father.
