Joseph Alexander Moore Obituary

On April 3, 2017, Joseph A. Moore, age 99, went to join his wife of 71 years, Montana, who passed away on October 2, 2008. Joe was born on July 22, 1917, in Bingham Canyon, Utah. After high school, Joe worked as a copper miner in the world's largest open pit copper mine in Bingham Canyon, which is still in operation. He was married in Bingham Canyon on June 23, 1937.

Joseph was drafted into the US Army on May 5, 1945 and he was among the first occupational forces sent to Japan after they surrendered in WWII. He was honorably discharged from the Army on October 30, 1946 and he settled in Linda, CA. After working at a truck stop in Linda, he was hired by the US Government Civil Service and worked for the next 30 years at McClellan AFB and Beale AFB, where he retired as a supply warehouse foreman. He has been a continuous resident of Yuba County since 1946 and has lived in East Marysville for over 26 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Dennis Moore, and a grandson Robert Byer.

He is survived by his daughter Marilynn Ross, son-in-law Tom Ross, daughter-in-law Marilyn Moore, granddaughters Michelle Byer and Kelly Sarrico, grandsons Tom Ross Jr. and Mitchell Moore, great-granddaughters Ashley Rovnanik and Lindsay Feffer, and great-grandsons Justin Byer and Shawn Moore. He also had three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at Sutter Cemetery, off Eighth Street on Tuesday, April 11th, 2017 at 10:00 am. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
