He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Nyla; daughter Tarey Townsen and husband Terry of Yuba City; son Joe Lucero Jr. and wife Angel of Citrus Heights; grandson Jordon Lucero of Austin Texas and granddaughters Ashley Lansky and husband Zach and Marissa Lucero of Yuba City. He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Concha Lucero and Sister Lola

Joe was born in Fresno on November 20, 1937 and moved to Colusa when he was around 7 years old. He made his home here with his wife Nyla and children. He was from an era where you work hard and you built something. He was employed by Ken Kelleher for 28 years and then with Tom Gross for 22 years before retiring. When not working you could find Joe tending to his yard which he built up from scratch, woodworking, watching one of his favorite Cowboy movies or as a lifelong avid reader, with a book in his hand, most likely a Cowboy story as well. Joe was also a volunteer with the Colusa Fire Department for 14 years where he made many friends.

A viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016 at McNary - Moore Chapel with a Celebration of his life immediately following in his beloved backyard at 40 Modoc Court in Colusa.
