Bill graduated from Notre Dame Grammar School, Marysville High School and continued his education at Yuba College. He proudly served in the US Army from 1942-1946 and was recalled in 1950-1951. During his retired years he was Funeral Director for Hutchinson and Carnes/Sierra View Mortuary from 1980-2000.

Bill is survived by the love of his life of almost 70 years, Alberta Streit Young. Together they had 8 children; 2 sons, Daniel Young and wife Suzie, Joseph P. Young and wife Heidi, and his six daughters, Kathleen Summitt, Beverlee Purdom and husband Kelly, Nancy Cole and husband Ed, Carolyn Young, Sally Weatherson and husband Victor, Vickie Ringlbauer and husband Jerry. He was also a proud recipient of the Pedro Award. Bill was a loyal member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marysville all of his life. He was the Knight of the Year in 1969.

Bill was a man of many talents, had a heart of gold and could even get the most unlikely to smile. His favorite slogan was "smile and think young". Known for his honesty and integrity, you could always rely on the truth!
