Joyce Anne Tidwell Bethards was born June 6, 1947. She was 66 years old. She passed away February 27th, 2014.

She was born in Sedalia, Missouri to L.C. and Helen Sotor Tidwell. Joyce graduated from Mesquite High School in Mesquite, Texas. She moved to Abilene, Texas in pursuit of a Bachelors degree at Harden Simmons University. While studying at the university she met and married Thomas Bethards, an Airman stationed at Dyess Air Force Base. That started her life as an Air Force wife. After living 2 1/2 years through Tom's rotations to Vietnam she was off to California with Tom. As Tom went to work on the SR-71 Joyce focused on her education. Joyce graduated from Yuba College in Marysville, California and subsequently from Chapman University with a Bachelors degree in Economics and Business Administration. After 7 years of Beale Air Force Base, the Air Force shipped Joyce and her husband, Tom, to Okinawa, Japan. Joyce went to work for the U.S. Marine Corps in the accounting department. After four years in Okinawa, Joyce was off to Colorado Springs, Colorado and Peterson Air Force Base with her husband. While in Colorado Springs, Joyce worked for Wendy's restaurants in the business office. In only 11 months, she would move to Ft. Worth Texas to be with Tom at Carswell Air Force Base. Joyce was near her family during the next two years. She took full advantage of this time and spent it with her mother and sister, Susan as much as she possibly could. After 2 years near her family, she was off to East Anglia in the United Kingdom. While in England she worked for Hughes Aircraft corporation in support of the U-2 Aircraft. The last years of her husbands career brought Joyce to Beale Air Force Base and Yuba City, California where she worked at Deluxe Packages in Yuba City, and again for Hughes Aircraft at Beale Air Force Base. Joyce was a devoted animal lover, volunteering her time at local animal shelters.

She is survived by her husband, Tom of 45 years; her sister, Susan; 17 nieces and nephews and 28 grand nieces and nephews.
