Juanita M. Sterling Obituary

Juanita M. Sterling, of Marysville, CA, passed away at her residence on January 8, 2017, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family.

Born, May 11, 1923, in Short, Oklahoma, to George and Annie Johnson, Juanita was the oldest of seven children.

During her life, she worked at various places; including J.C. Penney, Pacific Bell, and UPS, to name a few. Her fondest memories were of her time spent working in the machine shop at McChord Field, machining parts for aircraft during World War II. She maintained several friendships with co-workers and acquaintances she met there, some of which lasted over 70 years. She became friends with everyone she met.

Juanita met Jim Sterling in 1948 at a dance held at Robinson's Corner. They married later that same year and remained in the Yuba-Sutter area for the next 43 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Sterling; her two sons, Bill and David Sterling, and her granddaughter, Megan McNamar.

Juanita is survived by her daughters; Debby Alverez, of Gridley, Deana (Paul) Mote, of Marysville. Three grandsons: Andrew (Laura) Mote; Jimmy (Robin) Mote; and Steven Alverez; Ten great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Yuba City on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 4:00 pm.
