Judy Lynn Sanger Obituary

Judy Lynn Sanger, 51, of Sunnyvale, CA, passed away on April 24, 2015, after a long struggle with oral cancer.

Judy was born in Marysville, CA, on October 13, 1963, and attended Lindhurst High School from 1978-1981. After high school, Judy graduated from Chico State University in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. She later attended Butte College for training in the field of electronics repair.

She worked at Varian Medical Systems in Palo Alto, CA, for over 25 years where she worked in the Oncology Systems Technical Publications Department as a senior technical writer.

At Varian, she was valued for her ability to use the most current technologies, her adamant assurance that information in technical publications was accurate, and her strong advocacy for the customers and the technicians in the field helping them. She was also recognized for her perpetually positive attitude, and her role as the department's social butterfly - always up for lunch with her co-workers, a softball game after work, or a weekend barbecue.

Outside of work, Judy was passionate about Varian's softball league for employees in Palo Alto and Milpitas, CA. Judy was instrumental in keeping the league going, eventually serving as the league commissioner. The remainder of this year's season will be dedicated to Judy.

She also loved to travel in her spare time, and loved to visit places in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. She became a travel agent, opening Sanger Vacations, and helped many of her friends, family, and customers plan their dream vacations.

Judy is survived by her father John Sanger, her step mother Claudia Nightingale, her aunts Martha Hawthorne and Donna Taber, her uncles Gilbert and Norman Taber, her sister Marilyn Sanger, and her brother Michael Sanger. She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Sanger and her uncles John Hawthorne, David Taber, and Richard Taber.

In her honor, the family has created the Judy Sanger Memorial Scholarship. The first scholarships will be awarded this year to four students graduating from Lindhurst High School and attending an accredited college or technical school in the fall.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the or .

Per Judy's request, no services will be held. Final interment will be at the Clovis Cemetery in Clovis, CA.
