Kathrine Lucille Lewis Obituary

Katherine Lucille Lewis, age 79, died peacefully in her Yuba City home on March 7, 2018. Katherine was born June 24, 1938, in Superior, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Fred and Lucille Lenius. She moved to Yuba City when she was 11 years old.

Known as Kay to her family and friends, she graduated from Sutter High School as valedictorian. She was an avid reader and loved Shakespeare.

Kay married the love of her life, Jim Lewis. Together they raised 4 children, Kathi Hancock, Patty Lloyd, Jimmy Hancock, and Billy Hancock. They've enjoyed 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren planning skits, doing crafts, and writing letters and cards to family and friends.

Kay was a faithful member of her church. She enjoyed teaching children and adult Sunday school. She was active in Women's Missionary Mission service and as a GA leader for many years. She occasionally sang in the choir, and as church secretary put out the weekly church bulletin.

Kay was also an active member of her community. She had a passion for helping people. She taught English as a second language and drove cancer patients to their appointments. She faithfully wrote letters and cards to sick and hurting people.

Kay and Jim are long time members of Cooper Avenue Baptist Church. She will be missed by all.
