Kenneth L. Hickman Obituary

Kenneth L. Hickman, 67, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Redding Cal-Vet Home. He was born in Marysville on February 9, 1949 to Kenneth E. Hickman and Addie L. Hickman.

Kenneth is survived by his daughter Christina (Paul) Navarez, sister Kathleen (Gerry) Sevenau, brother James Hickman, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends which he loved and cared for very much.

Kenneth was a Veteran of the Army from November 10, 1966 to June 15, 1969. While in the Army, he was assigned to the 192nd Assault Helicopter company and flew over 80 combat assault missions as a door gunner in Vietnam for 18 months. He and his crew were responsible for saving many lives. He was also in the Navy from February 15, 1973 to February 11, 1975.

Upon his return home from his service he worked beside his father Ken and brother James in the family business Ken Hickman and Sons (Water) Well Drilling. He also worked in the oil fields of Oklahoma as a rough-neck and for Jones and Jones Concrete as a concrete finisher.

Ken loved his daughter Christina and his family and friends very much. He enjoyed camping, fishing and going to Reno to try his luck.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Earl Hickman and Addie Lucille Hickman.

Graveside services will be held at the Sutter Cemetery on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:00 am. Viewing will be Thursday, March 10 from 4-7pm at Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City.

A Celebration of Life will following Friday's services at the Marysville VFW Hall, 211 17th St., Marysville.
