Kenneth W. Roberts Obituary

Kenneth W. Roberts, age 75, quietly passed away in his Marysville home surrounded by his loving family after a determined battle with cancer.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two sons (Guy and Matt), and a daughter-in-law Debbie (whose husband, Allen, is deceased). He also leaves behind five granchildren (Kristen, Danaca, Allen David, Abby, and Sarah), and two great-grandchildren (Keelie and Karson).

Kenneth is a decorated veteran after having served 36 years in the USAF. Born in Modesto, CA in 1943 from parents who left Oklahoma in the Dust Bowl and moved to California for greater opportunity. At 18, he would also leave to dedicate his life to the military and join the USAF - first in the military police stationed in the Philippines where he would be part ofthe regime assigned to guard Vice President Johnson during his 1961 visit. He would then be assigned to guard the Minutemen Missiles in Montana and eventually change military careers and become a decorated air to air refueler in keeping the SR-71 spy plane in the air to protect the interests of our country.

Kenneth retired from military life and settled in Marysville and he would work for companies like Harters Canning, Gottschalks, and Forever 21. He loved to be around people and feel part of something bigger than himself. And in doing so, people encountered his kindness, strength, and dedication to his community.

Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the LDS church on North Beale Rd. He will be interred at Sierra View Memorial Park and Mortuary.
