Kula B. (Kay) Karnegas Obituary

Kay Karnegas went to be with our Lord and Savior on the evening of January 22, 2017 at The Gardens in Yuba City at the age of 98.

She was born in Sacramento, CA on June 23, 1918 to Theodore and Demetra Karnegas. She was raised in the Yuba-Sutter area graduating from Yuba City High School and Yuba College.

During her life, she worked at McClellan Air Force Base during WWII and then for Rose Insurance in Yuba City for many years. She was also involved in the family farming operation in the Yuba City area. She was an active member of the Eastern Star Lodge.

In her earlier years, she traveled to western Canada, Central and South America, Hawaii and Europe.

In her retirement years, she enjoyed gardening and flower arranging and spending time with her brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Gus T. Karnegas and Harry Karnegas and 2 sisters, Mary Alexander and Phyllis Karnegas.

She is survived by her nieces, Edna Alexander, Dea Karnegas, Debbie Karnegas and Marianne Karnegas (Owings) and her nephews, James Alexander, David Karnegas and Ted Karnegas and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

Her family thanks the staff and her friends at The Gardens for providing excellent care in her final years.

Per her wishes, a private family service has been held under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
