Leela C. Rai Obituary

Leela C. Rai, 63, of Yuba City, CA and Reno, NV, passed away on April 3, 2015. A Yuba-Sutter resident for 55 years born on January 14, 1952. Her occupation was a business woman.

Leela Rai was a loving and generous sister, aunt and friend. She was passionate about family, friends, spiritual exploration, golf (she played on two ladies leagues with Peach Tree Golf and country Club), traveling the world to learn and experience different cultures.

Leela completed her Master's Degree in International Business at Sacramento State University. She studied abroad in Switzerland for a time. One of her first jobs after college was as a Counselor at Chapman College in Los Angeles, CA. Later, she started her own Cruise Ship Travel business in San Francisco, aptly entitled "We Love Boats". Upon returning to Sutter County, Leela held two terms on the Yuba College Board of Trustees, as well as being a past president of the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce. She volunteered with the , various political campaigns and the Yuba-Sutter Arts Council.

Survivors include her brother, David (Ann) Rai, and niece, Olivia (Livy). Preceded in death by her father, Lal Singh Rai, and mother, Mary Singh Rai.

Visitation (4-6 p.m.) and rosary (6 p.m.) will be held at the Chapel of the Twin Cities in Yuba City on Sunday, April 12, 2015, and funeral services at St. Isidore's Catholic church on April 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.. Reception will be immediately following at the St. Isidore's Parish Hall. Cremation will be private.
