Lois was born in her family home in Lucasville, Ohio, to Tadgie and Letha Caldwell, the eldest of four children. She graduated Valley High School and took employment in West Jefferson Ohio as a grocery clerk then a soda fountain mixologist. She then worked at Western Electric in E. Columbus as a switching assembly technician. There, she met her future husband at a bowling alley. Married Fredrick M. Duncan AIC from nearby Lockburne AFB and she bore a son Rick and daughter Lori at the Base Hospital.

Leaving the service, Fred brought her home to Yuba County where they tarried, Lois worked at the G.E.M. Co. store in Yuba City until Fred reenlisted and they moved to Fairfield, CA, and Travis AFB. Their third child Dana was born in Fairfield. Going to Alaska, Lois sold Tupperware to stave off the cold and isolation in Anchorage while Fred, a Sergeant now, worked 12 hour shifts.

Returning to CA, and Castle AFB, they bought their first home in Winton. Then SSgt Fred got sent to Thailand and Lois and the family stayed stateside. Lois worked in the W.O.W. store in Merced, then the Wards Cafeteria.

Finally, MSgt. Fred retired from the AF and they returned to Yuba County. Lois worked for Jack Pot/All Rite Market, the Avalon Bay Foods, and finally the Walmart Super Center in Linda as the Garden Lady. She kept her home, family and was an Avon lady.

A lifelong Christian, Lois, lived a sermon by loving, smiling and helping people every day. She loved reading adventure/romance books and preparing home family dinners.
