Lorraine Marie (Keskeys) Trease Obituary

Lorraine Marie (Keskeys) Trease, aged 58, died peacefully on April 15, 2015 at Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville, CA, after a long struggle with complications from Type 1 diabetes.

Lorraine grew up dividing her time between Sacramento, California, and Gabbs, Lone, Dixie Valley and Fallon, Nevada. She enjoyed riding horses, raising animals, working on farms and playing with friends. At one time, she rode the longest bus ride to school on a dirt road in the nation.

In the 70's, Lorraine briefly married John Trease and they had two children - fraternal twins John Trease and Aimee (Trease) Moore. They didn't know they were having twins until the birth, but Lorraine always said it was a wonderful surprise.

After an amicable divorce, Lorraine moved to California with her children. She lived in Auburn, Wheatland and Olivehurst and made friends wherever she went. She earned an Associate's Degree in Horticulture from Sierra College, while participating in every field trip, sporting event and club her children were involved in.

In addition to raising her two children, Lorraine balanced her time between being an executive secretary and equipment operator for NEC Electronics located in Roseville, CA and volunteering for everything from PTA, creating church newsletters, coaching her daughter's softball team and assisting her friends by volunteering at a 100 mile cross-country run.

Lorraine had many pursuits that gave her an outlet for her joyful personality. Lorraine always had a green thumb, so one of her greatest joys was gardening. She was a member of the Sutter Buttes Garden Club and she loved creating their monthly newsletter, as well as showing off her many ribbons won at county fairs for her plants.

Lorraine loved games and friendly competition. Many nights she could be found sharing her contagious laugh and friendly personality with her bowling league at Nu Generations Lanes. Her love of competition extended to nights with friends and family sitting around the kitchen table playing one of her dozens of board games she collected, or playing a lively hand of cribbage. She was a formidable opponent - she rarely lost, but if she did, she did so with grace.

Her game collection was complimented by her extensive mouse figurine collection, which was not to be outdone by her Mickey Mouse collection. Her wardrobe consisted almost entirely of Mickey Mouse, to include jewelry, shoes and purses. Lorraine liked mice so much that she signed most things with just an L and a drawing of a mouse. Lorraine was also a voracious reader, that loved Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and anything she could get her hands on.

Finally, she loved holidays - all of them, and celebrated each one with a houseful of decorations and parties when she could. She created amazing Halloween costumes and always found unique gifts for Christmas and birthdays.

Lorraine is survived by her children John Trease and Aimee (Trease) Moore, son-in-law Ed Moore, grandchildren Michael and Matthew Diefenbach, mother Barbara Morris, father James Keskeys, brother Robert Keskeys, sister Michelle O'Hara, niece Rosie McAuliffe and nephew Alex O'Hara.

Lorraine was loved by many and will truly be missed. All that knew her are welcome to attend a casual celebration of her life on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 2:00 pm, in the Pioneer Memorial Hall, 4th and B St., Wheatland, California.
