Louise H. Zirkle Obituary

Former longtime Yuba-Sutter resident Louise Zirkle passed away quietly of natural causes July 22, 2014. Recently she celebrated her 100th birthday achieving one of her lifelong goals.

Louise was born March 16, 1914 in Indiana, Pa., and lived in Yuba City for more than 50 years before settling in Placerville five years ago.

While in Yuba-Sutter area she and her husband the late Olen C. Zirkle Sr. ran Foster's Freeze in Marysville for 20 years. She was a former member of the Yuba City Moose Lodge, the Widowed Persons Association and a member of the Crossroads Community Church.

An art lover, she painted in oils and other mediums and had done ceramics. She also enjoyed dancing, played the organ, and had traveled the world.

She is survived by her three children, Zolane Sherrod of Placerville, Olen C. Zirkle Jr. of Folsom, and Silas Zirkle of Plymouth, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Internment services are scheduled at Sutter Cemetery on August 16, 2014 at 11:00 am; reception to follow at Crossroads Church.
