Lydia was born in Billings, Montana to Eve and Chris Spitzer. She moved to Elk Grove, CA with mother, father, and 11 siblings in 1925. She was married to husband (1st) Sylvester C. Streit in 1938, and had 2 children: daughter, Georgia (Streit) Williams and son, Henry C. Streit. She also has 3 grandchildren: Syd Williams, Rochelle Kneeland, and Stacy Streit, who has one son; 3 great- grandchildren: Robert, Shane & Kasey Kneeland; and 3 great- great - grandchildren, Bella, Robert, and Sebastian Kneeland.

Lydia owned and operated a small grocery store on 2nd Avenue in Yuba City to sell fishing bait, cold drinks, and sandwiches for the fishermen. She sold the store in the 50's and moved to Sacramento. She and her husband separated 15 years later. She then met and married Samuel J. De Salvo and moved to Sparks, Nevada. Late in the 60's, they moved back to Sacramento where they retired and enjoyed family and life together until her husband passed away.

In 2002, she sold her home and moved in with her daughter in Marysville for 8 years. She finally went to live in Arizona to be close to her son.

A small service will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in South Sacramento on October 25, 2013 at 1:00 pm by the Crypte Walls.
