Madeline Elizabeth Eastman (Skippen) passed away so peacefully at her new home in Allyn, WA on October 16, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born on April 8, 1917 in Saulte Ste. Marie, MI, where she attended Loretta Academy High School. She was married on May 22, 1937 to her husband of 54 years, Elden Eastman. After raising 8 children, she attended Valley College School of Nursing in California.
She was a member of St. Mary's Guild DAV Aux. and Catholic Daughters of the America's Ct. of St. Aloysius. She served as Eucharistic Minister and Lector at many parishes in California and Washington. She loved traveling, reading and creating in knit and crochet. At 82 years old, she became a published poet.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elden C. Eastman and two sons, Richard Eastman and Kenneth Eastman. Madeline is survived by her sons Lawrence, Harold, Robert and Terry Eastman; daughters Ruth Spagnuolo and Ella Eastman; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 12:00 Noon, with Rosary at 11:30 a.m. at Prince of Peach Catholic Church, 1171 N.E. Sandhill Rd., Belfair, WA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Wounded Warrior Project. The entire Eastman family wish to extend our deepest appreciation to Young K. Paik, M.D. and we are so grateful to the staff at Assured Hospice for their caring support during her final days.
