Marcus P. Nelson Obituary
Marcus P. Nelson, 69, of Yuba City, CA, passed away very suddenly on June 1, 2015 in Marysville, CA. He was born on July 7, 1945, and grew up in Hallwood. CA. When he was 23, he moved to San Jose, CA and drove a Ready-Mix concrete truck. Marcus and his family lived there for 11 years. In 1979, Marcus and his family moved to Yuba City. It was at this time that he started Bi-County Concrete Pumping. He was the first concrete pumper in this area. He pumped concrete until the day he died. Out of Marcus' 36 years as a concrete pumper, he worked nearly 30 years side by side with his son, Shawn. Marcus dedicated his life to his job. He was a very hard worker. He could be found at his shop working and tickering when not pumping concrete. He was always on the go. He had many life long friends that liked to visit him and his dog, Rowdy at "the shop". He was a "Moose" and belonged to Teamsters.
Marcus is survived by his wife Marlene Nelson, his son, Shawn (Jeriann) Nelson, of Yuba City, daughters: Tami Nelson Mahan of Illinois, Rhonda Sullivan of Yuba City, and Debra (Ray) Thorn of Redding, CA, 17 grandchildren and many many friends.
Marcus is preceded in death by his son, Marcus P. Nelson Jr., his brothers, Gerald Nelson and Ira Nelson and his parents Loyd and Lily Nelson.
A memorial service is scheduled for June 8, 2015 at 2 pm at Ullrey's Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life will follow around 3 pm at the Marcus Nelson Residence.
We were shocked and very saddened by his sudden passing. We will miss him very much.
A special "Thank You" to his friend's David Melton and Lester Johnson for all of their help.
